I've been trying to get in to blues for a while now, but it's so daunting. So many great artists, so many versions of songs, I don't know where to begin. Whenever I get overwhelmed digging through catalogs of music there's one album I always come back to in order to get myself grounded again, reminding me what turned me on to blues in the first place.
B.B. King Live in Cook County Jail, I can safely say, is one of my favorite albums of all-time, in any genre. The intro track where you can hear the crowd booing the Sheriff and Judge immediately helps bring you to a Chicago jailhouse in the late 60's - early 70's to witness B.B. King play in person. The whole album just gives off a great, in-the-moment feeling that still holds up 40 years later.
Have a listen and check it out; leave suggestions for some other albums if you have any!
