Obviously there is a LOT left to do, all of the graphics and sound are placeholders for the time being but the basic gameplay is intact and that's all I wanted to find out with this simple concept.
The game is called "Yeast Beast" and as far as I know, is the most accurate beer brewing simulator game ever made!
Here's a short gameplay clip:
Basically, you play as a yeast cell. Your goal is to swim through the fermenting beer and eat sugar (represented by white blocks). After consuming enough, you um... "react" by releasing CO2 and ethanol molecules.
You continue eating sugar, but now you must avoid your own byproducts. This (in a very dumbed-down and simple way) shows how fermentation becomes more and more difficult for the yeast as ethanol content begins to rise!
The end goal is to make the strongest beer you can. Since this demo video was made, I've added a standard points-based scoring system in addition to an "ABV" score (the "ABV" of a beer is the "alcohol by volume" used as a standard measure of beer alcohol content) based on how many reactions you cause!
Thoughts? Ideas? I'd love to hear em!
